Aisha Jamila Hinds is a popular American actor. Her most well-known role is her role in television series The Shield, and True Blood. She has demonstrated her versatility through 2003 when she has delivered impressive performances in TV shows such as 9-1-1 Detroit as well as 1-8-7 and Under the Dome. She was first noticed for her character Anna in the 2005 movie Assault on Precinct 13. It was however her portrayal of women's liberation activist Fannie Louis Hamer from the biography film All the Way, which gave her the respect she deserved as an actress. Hind's performance as Harriet Tubman on WGN America's time-based drama Underground was also highly appreciated. She currently stars on the procedural drama series 9-1-1 in the leading role of firefighter/paramedic Henrietta Hen Wilson. The series was renewed for its third installment with 20th Century Fox Television. Hind is currently filming for the Hollywood film Godzilla: King of the Monsters. She was born on Mangalore in India. Her father Krishnaraj died in the month of March after a long career as a scientist in India's Army. Vrinda, her mother, is a homemaker. Her older brother is Aditya Rai who is a merchant navy engineer. The younger brother of Bachchan Aditya Rai was the producer of Dil Ka Rishta and wrote the song with Bachchan. Arya Vidya Mandir, Mumbai was where her parents had moved. Jai Hind College where she studied for an entire year and completed her high school education prior to enrolling in D.G. Ruparel College Matunga, where she was able to score a 90 percent in her H.S.C. exams. She studied classical music and dance for 5 years throughout her teenage years. Her favorite course was Zoology. Bachchan was a student studying architecture at the time she won the title of Miss World in 1994. This title was a boost to her career in the world of modeling. She received lucrative positions with PepsiCo Inc. and Vogue magazine and also a spokesmodel contract with L'Oreal Paris in 2003. Two of the first films she made in her professional career included Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Iruvar. Bachchan was thrust into the front of New Bollywood after both films broke the traditional structure for Bollywood films of the period. Bachchan's heartbreaking portrayal of Paro the love interest who was jilted in Devdas (2002) the film that was one of the most well-known Bollywood films of the time and first shown at the Cannes Film Festival cemented her as the queen of Bollywood. Following that her performance, she received praise for her role as Chokher Bal (2003), an intense film based on the novel of Rabindranathtagore. The actress was the first Indian to be on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival. Bachchan starred on the screen in Gurinder Chatha's Bride and Prejudice. It was a musical as well as dance version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The beauty and star power of Bachchan made her the perfect choice for the premier major film in English. Following the release of Provoked: A True Story in English, she went back to Bollywood and starred in the blockbuster Dhoom: 2 (2007). In April 2007, she was married to Abhishek Bachchan who is a frequent co-star, and son of Bollywood legendary Amitabh Bachchan in a marriage which brought together two of India's most powerful people.
